This early morning by the river at the St. Croix Boom Site in Stillwater is one of my favorite sessions I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. The light was soft, the air was (relatively) cool, and it felt like the whole world was still quiet. On this August morning, it was just the three of us and we had the beach almost entirely to ourselves.

This mother and daughter duo made the most of it. They splashed in the water, balanced on the rocks, and walked together in the sand, just hanging out.
What I loved most was watching how they interacted. The way they laughed with each other, the little glances, the comfort in just being together. It was such a sweet reminder of how special these relationships are, and why I love documenting them. K + R, I had so much fun with you! It was such a joy to witness you together.

Family sessions don’t have to be stiff or posed. If you want photos that capture the way you laugh, play, and simply enjoy being together, let’s make it happen.
